Set Up
Barpeta Municipal Board is headed by the Chairman who is the head of administration and presides over the meetings of the Board. He is assisted by one Vice-Chairman and respective elected Ward Commissioners who are representing the 22 wards along with 3 numbers of Ex-Officio as member and Govt. Nominee. The Executive Officer (EO) who is generally from the government administration is the executive head who oversees and administers the plan and execution of the various activities of the board.
Under the Executive Officer, the technical issues are overseen by the Assistant Engineer and under him , Junior Engineer, the Excavator Operators, drivers and general safai workers and sweepers.
The Head Assistant heads the office staff and looks after the various official records, activities and functions of the Board. Under him there are the staff members who carry out various clerical and administrative functions, who report to him. The staff members comprises of the Accountant, the Senior assistants (SA), Grade–IV , Fixed Pay, M.R. and Contractual Employees.
The Barpeta Municipal Board also monitors and implements three flagship schemes of the Government of India. These are National Urban Livelihood Mission (Urban), Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) and Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (Urban). These programs are manned by City Project Officers and City Project Managers and are specifically trained and equipped to roll out these schemes. A myriad of activities has been conducted by the Municipal Board under these schemes.
